VOTE FOR ME AS COUNCIL MEMBER-SOUTH ZONE IN ILA ASSOCIATION ELECTIONS 2019 – 2022

Hello Dear LIS Professionals (Contesting & Voting),

ILA has uploaded final list of Contestants for the ILA Election 2019 – 2022 on 19 Jan 2019 at https://www.ilaindia.net/images/pdf/FINAL-ILA-NOTICE-CONTESTENTS.pdf

I don’t know how many noticed this…..that there are no Women Contestants in the top slots of President, Vice President, General Secretary etc….only a couple of women as council members!

On questioning, many people opined – that women have not come forward and submitted their nominations!

But I know for a fact that a couple women professionals have sent their nominations – but were disqualified on various grounds!

Where are the reasons mentioned – on what grounds were they disqualified? NOBODY IS QUESTIONING THIS!

Since the date for nominations is already done! I urge you to vote for the right candidate – irrespective of gender or panel they belong to!

We want leadership who seeks balance in gender representation…. works for the profession and professionals!

If you agree with me – KINDLY VOTE! Don’t let your vote go waste!  PLEASE ENSURE THAT POSTAL BALLOT IS SENT VIA REGISTERED POST – SO THAT THERE IS PROOF – WHICH CAN BE VALIDATED SHOULD OCCASION ARISE!

Even my name figures on the list…this time! SO VOTE FOR ME AS COUNCIL MEMBER-SOUTH ZONE!  Please note that I am not part of any panel and standing as independent candidate as I believe that – if I WIN – I will be able to work more effectively and able to question current team too – so effectively work for association members and profession 🙂

Why should you vote me – you may ask!  Please read below to be convinced to vote for me.

If I am elected as Council Member – South Zone, I will support ILA Council by working as team member towards development of profession and try to address problems/issues faced by LIS professionals…better transparency in all endeavors and more importantly communicate using website and various social media what contributions were made during said term. Push towards chapters in various states and ensure standardization in policies on various issues. Work towards increasing members from South, improve women representation in LIS associations & updating member database. Monitor social media if given responsibility. I will also be the voice & conscience – if need be.

I had written a post LIS Associations Elections – Demand by Members! at https://achalamunigal.wordpress.com/2018/12/11/2262/ where I suggested that EVERY ASSOCIATION MEMBER DEMAND – THAT ALL CONTESTING CANDIDATES SHOULD PUT IN A AGENDA/MANIFESTO – TO HELP MAKE RIGHT CHOICE TO REPRESENT MEMBER FOR TERM 2019-2022! Many have congratulated me on blogging about this and creating awareness.  Im glad to note that professionals have adopted and shared their manifestos this time.

I would also like to thank each and every LIS professional who posted on various social media & chat groups that they have never received ballot till date! And guess what – Many people have posted that they have received ballot this time due to their advocacy! Even I have got ballot today. I will be voting for the first time – since I became a member!

SO EVERYONE REMEMBER – CHANGE CAN BE GOT! You only have to stand united and DEMAND!

Hoping that more women come forward next time and send nominations for ILA elections and every other LIS Association election.
